Hi! I’m Emilia, your guide to the best Ayurveda resorts in India.
My journey, for your health.
I am Emilia Miloiu, a Romanian-Belgian citizen with international mindset, passionate about healthy living and health advocacy. In the past 20 years, I have lived and worked in Romania, Germany, Belgium and India and have travelled to more than 20 countries in Europe and overseas. By profession, I am a Public Affairs Consultant specialising in health and environment. Over the past 15 years, I provided consultancy services to several health organisations based in Brussels, such as European Chronic Disease Alliance, European Society of Cardiology, European Kidney Health Alliance, European Pain Federation – EFIC, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, and MedTech Europe. Although I had various job titles, my key mission was to advocate for better health policies at European Union (EU) level by working with representatives of the EU institutions and national governments.
Thanks to my rich experience in health advocacy in Europe, I have gained deep knowledge and understanding about the prevention and management of chronic diseases. Furthermore, I have valuable insider experience with Indian Ayurveda resorts. This unique combination of skills recommends me as a trusted advisor for Ayurveda retreats and treatments in India.
My approach
Most European people who wish to try authentic Ayurveda treatments must travel to India to fully benefit of this holistic healing system. And I am one of them.
After spending 3 months in an Ayurveda resort and having visited several other resorts, I learned a lot about the amazing benefits of Ayurveda and also about possible discomforts encountered by Europeans during their Ayurveda retreats.
Some of the most frequent complaints were related to air pollution, noise pollution, food quality, mold in the rooms, insufficiently qualified or experienced massage therapists, low cleaning standards, hidden costs, insects and rodents in the rooms. Based on my personal experience and on the experience of other Europeans, I came to the idea of carrying out a local assessment of Ayurveda resorts in 4 states of India.
I wanted to personally test many resorts and select only those that meet European standards of hygiene, accommodation, treatment and facilities (poll, relaxation rooms, gardens, …), with the final goal of recommending those resorts to Europeans who want to travel to India for Ayurveda.
Many Ayurveda resorts from India are very nicely presented on the website, featuring amazing beaches, relaxing massage rooms and swimming pools with crystal clear water. But, in some cases, the reality on the ground is different than what we see on a website and can be disappointing. I believe that by providing guidance which is based on my first-hand experience, I help people find good quality Ayurveda resorts that match their individual needs in terms of location, price, and treatment options.
Especially for European guests, who are used to a high standard of hospitality and healthcare, unexpected stress factors can be a real spoiler of their Ayurveda experience. While they come from far away to seek peace, harmony and healing, negative experiences encountered in a resort may discourage them to come again. That’s why it’s worth seeking professional guidance before booking your Ayurveda retreat.
Good to know:
I visited 24 resorts in less than 3 months and I spent another 3 months in a resort to get to know the reality on the ground. Based on my assessment, the chances for you to find the right resort through your own research are only about 15%. This means 85% risk of getting into the wrong place if you travel to India for Ayurveda without prior guidance!

An ambitious mission: to advocate for Ayurveda in Europe
While many European health organisations active at EU level advocate for more disease prevention, the current focus remains, sadly, on treatment. On the contrary, trends show that an increasing number of people seek alternative, more natural healing methods like Ayurveda, whose primary aim are to prevent diseases and maintain a good health, rather than to cure diseases. Many alternative medicine systems have long proved their efficacy in the management of chronic diseases but their incorporation into the public healthcare systems in Europe is still very modest.
In addition to guiding people on how to choose the best Ayurveda resorts, my mission is to develop advocacy initiatives aimed at promoting Ayurveda in European countries and at European Union level. Furthermore, I support the activities of other organisations that promote the incorporation of Ayurveda as an alternative, traditional medicine system into European healthcare.
Would you like to work with me? If yes, remember – I am your adviser, not your doctor or travel agent. I don’t offer: medical consultations or medical advice, travel bookings and VISA arrangements, local, on-site assistance, support in case of emergency.
